Wetskills event at the UN 2023 Water Conference (March)

After almost 50 years, the United Nations decided to organize a dedicated Water Conference at the UN Headquarters in New York from 22 to 24 March 2023. Tajikistan and The Netherlands co-host this unique water event, firstly organized in 1976. Henk Ovink, Special Envoy International Water Affairs of the Kingdom of The Netherlands, and Wetskills Ambassador, pushed Wetskills Foundation to organize a Wetskills event during this event and after a long preparation we can finally announce the Wetskills-USA 2023! This event will become the third Wetskills event in this country after Milwaukee (2015) and Boston (2016). Meanwhile it is the fifth event in North America (Toronto 2014 and Mexico City 2019) and it will be the 61th event overall.

For this event Wetskills Foundation partners with the UN2023 GameChanger Challenge (UN2023-GCC, by Wavemakers United and IHE Delft) and The Netherlands government. The winning teams of the UN2023-GCC will become the five challenges of this Wetskills event. So, the five Wetskills teams existing of ‘new’ participants with various nationalities, cultures, backgrounds, organizations and experiences, including one representative of the winning team of the UN2023-GCC, will continue with the ideas and create a first step towards implementation. The ideas will be presented at a special workshop on youth engagement at the New York Water Week (proposed date: 21 March 2023)

Would you like to experience working in an international team and learning from water challenges worldwide? Would you like to experience New York and the UN community? Are you making a difference during the New York Water Week and/or the UN 2023 Water Conference? Would you like to present your ideas for an international jury panel and audience? This is your chance! Wetskills Foundation and partners are organizing the third Wetskills edition in USA, and a special one!

Wetskills Foundation and its partners are inviting students (Bachelor (final year), Master and PhD) and Young Professionals from universities and organizations worldwide with a passion for Water-Energy-Food, to join this intergenerational event and apply for Wetskills-USA 2023 (period: 11-22 March 2023).
