Are you a student or young professional from the Arab region and beyond, and do you want to make a difference in the water sector? Would you like to experience working in an international team and experiencing the Arab culture (in Egypt)? Do you love wandering around in the vibrant, challenging and historic City of Caïro? Do you want to meet people who can tell you everything about Egypt or the Arab culture? And, most importantly are you passionate about water & sustainability and want to contribute to innovate solutions on challenging water issues? Are you keen on meeting and interacting with an international water audience with diverse professionals? Participants of this Wetskills Challenge in Caïro, Egypt will see and experience all this, and more!
Wetskills Foundation is inviting students (Bachelor (final year), Master and PhD) and Young Professionals from universities and organisations worldwide with a passion for Water-Energy-Food, to join this unique event and apply for Wetskills-Egypt [2023] 2024.
This new edition of Wetskills Challenge, the second one in Egypt (after the first one in 2012), will be organized from [date not yet known]. The finals will be held at a special workshop at the Embassy of the Kingdom of The Netherlands, where the teams will present their results and the winning team will be announced.

This event is postponed to 2024. Dates will be announced later.
Who can apply?
Any Young Professional (up to 5 years of working experience) and student (last year Bachelor, Master or PhD) from Egypt, MENA region, and other countries worldwide, with a passion for water-energy-food and intercultural teamwork.
How can I apply?
You can apply by visiting the Wetskills website. Prepare a motivation letter and resume, click the botton on the right, fill out the online application form and submit it.
Selection criteria
The Wetskills organization will make a final selection among applications received, based on quality of motivation & resume. The organisation will also consider a good diversity of the whole group (incl. backgrounds, local/international, gender balance, etc.).
Costs
♦ Participation fee for local applicants, who do not need accommodation arrangements, is € 25,-. Note: Wetskills and partners are striving to get additional funding to lower this fee.
♦ Participation fee for participants is € 395,- (excl. VAT), needing accommodation in Cairo. This participation fee includes accommodation, teambuilding activities, some lunches & dinners, field trips, workshop, supervision, trainings and working venues. Participants are responsible for their own travel expenses (plane tickets, local travel, etcetera), meals during working days and other personal costs.
Note: With partners Wetskills Foundation strives to lower the price and even arrange vouchers for participants to join this Wetskills for free.
Note: During past editions participants often successfully arranged financial compensation for their Wetskills participation from their university or employer. We therefore strongly encourage applicants to inquire about funding opportunities to compensate the costs (university mobility funds, travel allowance etc.).
Joining this Wetskills Event – What do you get?
A unique learning experience where you will tackle real-life water challenges with your own team!
♦ You will increase your skills in: international cooperation; problem solving, cross-cultural and interdisciplinary teamwork, networking and presenting (pitch & poster);
♦ You will get the opportunity to connect with other international water students/young professionals;
♦ You will exclusively visit the Wetskills finals and awarding at the Cairo Water Week;
♦ You will visit Cairo, Luxor and surroundings: water-related, natural and cultural sites, and meetings with water experts;
♦ You will learn, network and experience more about water challenges in the Arab region, the main stakeholders and organisations, contemporary issues and current business opportunities;
♦ You will receive a certificate of participation upon completion of the programme.
